What to Expect at Your First Visit
The main goal of a child’s first dental visit is to introduce them to the dental environment to build trust and prevent future anxieties. This initial appointment often takes place around the time the child turns one year old or shortly after their first tooth erupts. Dr. Kasey will perform a gentle knee-to-knee exam while the child sits comfortably on a parent’s lap. This quick check allows him to look for early signs of decay, assess the development of the jaws and teeth, and ensure everything is progressing as expected. The appointment will also include a brief cleaning or polish, fluoride application, and dedicated time to provide the parent with essential oral hygiene education.
